Each of this author’s books explores Indian festivals and traditions in such an engaging way and this book is no exception. It’s bright and colourful, depicting holi perfectly. It’s a wonderful way to teach kids about our culture and I even use it in my practice as a primary school teacher. Fantastic book!

This book is well written and covers the significance of holi. The kids loved reading it because they saw it as an extension to Diwali book in the series which they still read during bedtime. Would highly recommend this book! As a parent, I also learnt some new things about holi which I did not know which was a bonus.

Absolutely perfect book to teach Holi traditions!!
I absolutely loved this book! It does a great job of sharing Holi traditions around India, while also making them easy to understand and remember through fun and entertaining prose. I have 4 kids, ages 6-16 and all thought this book was entertaining and beautifully illustrated, but I would say it’s a book perfectly geared for young kids through age 12. My older kids liked it, so if you have older children wanting to learn traditional Holi events, this is perfect, but it is geared more for the younger readers. The illustrations are marvelous and show Indian people of different skin and hair tones, which I appreciated since it reflected our family. The counting and hidden items in the book make this a perfect math learning while soaking up traditions, and for the older kids, it made a fun game to see who could race to find items first! It lead to lots of laughter with my oldest boys (12, 14, and 16). The counting also made it easy for them to engage with their little sister (6) while they read to her and helped her find items to count. I love this book and the author has created a wonderful series about Hindu traditions to share with our children. This is a must for anyone wishing to get their kids excited to learn about Indian culture and traditions. I highly recommend it!

.This book is a fantastic starting point to educate your children on the Hindu festival Holi. As a parent raising a toddler in Australia, we often observe Hindu festivals without understanding the true meaning behind these festivals. This book is a great resource for parents to understand a little more about Holi, whilst also teaching little ones about the festival in a simple and fun manner. My son especially enjoyed the bright illustrations and finding the hidden objects, which is an engaging activity the author has thoughtfully included in all of her books. I would highly recommend this book, especially to parents and educators who are looking to teach and connect their children to Hindu culture and festivals.

Why I wrote this book
Holi is a festival celebrated in March every year and is widely known as the festival of colours. Growing up outside of India my exposure to Holi was quite limited, occasionally I would attend the celebrations at the temple or attend a community organised event. But there wasn’t much education around what we did for the festival other than throw coloured powders and water at each other. So, I created this guide to help young children learn more about the festival and what is done to mark the occasion. It also helps in showing those who may not be familiar with the celebration what else we do as part of it. So, if you are looking to excite, entertain and educate your children about the rituals of Holi then this is the ideal starting point.
