What is this initiative and why it's important to me

I'm Vanessa Kapadia, the creator of the It's That Time of Year series.
My mission for Diversity for Daycares is to bring more culturally diverse resources to daycare centers across Australia, helping children feel a sense of belonging while learning to accept and understand differences.
Growing up in Australia, I rarely saw my culture reflected in childcare or school. I often felt out of place, and I don’t want any child to experience that. By providing diverse resources, we can create environments where every child sees themselves represented and also learns to appreciate the uniqueness of others.

If you're looking for a way to teach your children about Diwali, this book is a must have! It explains the different days of Diwali, has a catchy rhyme and my daughter's favourite part is finding all the key items. It's so beautiful to see my daughter now recognising Indian traditions like rangoli and the different sweets. This book is a wonderful way to ensure our children feel represented in books, which was lacking when I grew up.
